The process of converting the gallery is very nearly done. All the code is written and fairly thoroughly tested. Around 95% of the data has been converted so far. I’ve also taken another look at the way I was rendering the new galleries and improved on it. It was going to show smaller thumbnails in more columns, and the number of columns reduced whenever a narrower browser size was detected. It was responsive as far as mobile browsers were concerned, but it wasn’t particularly elegant. I’ve now reduced the number of columns by one in all views to increase the thumbnail sizes, and more importantly, regardless of the width of the browser, the gallery always fills any available white space. Tomorrow I will convert that remaining bit of data, do some final testing, no doubt a few small visual tweaks, then if all goes well, the site will finally go live.
