When I set about converting all my old gallery code to the new site there was one thing I had completely overlooked. They both used completely separate shopping baskets. This means that if a visitor were to want to buy something from the shop section of the site as well as a print from the galleries, they would have their items split across two separate shopping baskets, and would have to complete two checkouts in order to buy them. I’ve therefore spent time working out ways to provide one unified shopping basket. There’s a fair bit of repetitive work to do on the galleries to fully implement it, but in the future it will make things easier for me, and less frustrating for visitors. Once this process is over, unless I find that I’ve overlooked some other major issue, it should just be a case of a few tweaks to the site here and there, some more testing, and then it will be time to flick the switch that will disable the old site and make this one live.
