I decided to add a bit of extra functionality to the species list. It is now possible to view and use interactive pie charts that represent the distribution of taxonomic classes and orders of the species in the list. I don’t expect the distribution to change much over time, given the natural occurrence and ease of sighting different species, but of course as new species get added to the list, the numbers will grow, even if the distribution remains largely the same. In the process of working on the species list, I have discovered a bug, but it appears to be a bug with the Chrome browser as opposed to a bug with my code. It’s a minor thing, and not something that I’m going to bother trying to address, manifesting itself in the last few entries on the ‘family’ filter not rendering their hyperlinks. Hopefully in time, a browser update will take place that will magically resolve this small issue.
