Since the last entry, I finally managed to get ASP code running again on the Windows server and as a result, managed to get the (still in progress) site back to where it was. That didn’t solve the gallery issue of course. I decided to use a completely different hosting company, and the change was well worth it. It took a while to migrate everything, test it was all working, re-do the SSL certification, etc. Most importantly it seems my plans for the gallery can move forwards after all. It’s early days, but I’m hopeful it will work out OK eventually. Coming up with a good way of interrogating the data to come up with a flexible way to view the galleries is going to be the next big challenge. Like the previous galleries, it will be possible to reach any given photo via multiple routes (e.g the same photo of say, an Adder, could be reached by viewing ‘Adders’, ‘British Reptiles’, ‘British Wildlife’ and ‘Worldwide wildlife’). Unlike the previous gallery, this one will integrate with the same shop that all the other products are in – one shopping cart to rule them all!
