European Lynx completed

The European Lynx is finally complete. I’ve spent longer on this drawing than any other so far. As with all my other colour work so far, it was drawn with Stabilo Carbothello pastel pencils on A3 Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper. This photo doesn’t really do the drawing any favours – it definitely looks better in person. … Read more

European Lynx in progress, part 2

I’m still working on this European Lynx. Both of the photos I’ve posted so far have been taken with my phone under artificial light. Detail is being lost and the colours aren’t quite right, though they’re not far off. Once the drawing is complete, I’ll obviously take some better photos in natural light. Hopefully the … Read more

Eurasian Lynx in progress

I’m currently working on this drawing of a Eurasian Lynx. I’m using Stabilo Carbothello pastel pencils on pastelmat paper again. There’s still work to do on what I’ve already drawn before I move on to the rest, but I’m looking forward to reaching the longer haired sections of fur.

Dougie & Tia complete (commission)

Work on Tia (left) and Dougie (right) has finished and the end result is now signed, mounted and framed, ready to hand over to the dogs’ owners. They’ve already seen these pictures and I’m relieved to say that they’re very happy with the result. I’m grateful to them for entrusting me to do a good … Read more

David Attenborough (re-post)

I’m posting this portrait of David Attenborough again only because I’ve finally taken the time to take a decent photograph of the final drawing. The drawing hasn’t changed since the last post, but the contrast and clarity should look a lot better now and more representative of the drawing. I’m still currently working on the … Read more

David Attenborough portrait

As with most of my previous drawings, it’s always tricky to know when to stop. I think I’ve done all I can with this portrait of David Attenborough. I’d wanted to draw a human for a while, despite me previously telling myself I was only interested in drawing wildlife. Like most people I grew up … Read more
